Hoteliers launch ’Santo Domingo Capital Destination 2013’

Santo Domingo.- The growth of tourism’s offer with new hotels and renovation of existing ones show that the city of Santo Domingo needs to attract more visitors, which can only be achieved by promoting its growth, warned Santo Domingo Hotels Association president Eduardo Reple.

The business leader said thus far the city’s tourism industry has catered mostly to business tourism and to the corporate segment, for which “it’s a good time to get vacation tourism to grow because the city’s offer is attractive.”

Reple spoke to launch the Santo Domingo Hotels Association’s “Santo Domingo Capital Destination 2013” on Monday, a promotional gathering at the Jaragua Renaissance hotel, with 140 tour operators, wholesalers and specialized journalists from 20 countries taking part.

The event, slated to conclude today Tuesday, is sponsored by the Tourism Ministry the Dominican Republic Hotels and Tourism Association and the Dominican Tourism Press Association, which gathers industry professionals committed to boost the “Capital Destination’s” growth in tourism.

Representatives from Argentina, Aruba, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Guadeloupe, Italy, Martinique, Mexico, Russia, Poland, Puerto Rico, Czech Republic, Romania, USA and Venezuela take part in the activity, with a program full of key issues  to discuss with international guests, aimed selling the “Capital Destination.”
