Tourism leader decries ‘sprawl’ at Bavaro, Punta Cana –

Santo Domingo.- The head of the new maritime and tourist services companies grouped in ADOEMASTUR on Tuesday deplored the state of sprawl and disorder posed by the peddlers at the Bávaro and Punta Cana tourism regions.

ADOEMASTUR president Ariel Carreras also criticized the services that he calls deficient, provided to visitors on the beaches and “other key places for the sustained growth which that demarcation is capable of generating.”

The business leader took the association’s reigns in a ceremony at Bavaro’s Hotel Meliá Caribe, attended by dozens of representatives from various areas of the tourism sector, including Hotels and Tourism Association (ASONAHORES) vice president Arturo Villanueva, who lauded the recently created organization.

“We’re confident that this guild will help develop this area increasingly appreciated and valued by national and foreign visitors,” said Villanueva.

Among ADOEMASTUR’s objectives, Carreras cited the supply services companies, especially those described as complementary offers for the tourism sector.

“This new Guild is committed and determined to contribute its grain of sand for the solution of so many shortcomings which hobble this tourist region, despite the effort by Tourism Ministry authorities and other government agencies that we acknowledge,” Carreras said in a statement.
